What a grim looking bloke who played with you at the Navy Lark, and why haven't you introduced me to the blond bird with the bike? See you tomorrow (unless you're reading this another time!).

Hi Steve. I woould like to know if you are able and willing to shed some info on one of your projects. I would like to build one of your "Line Array Cabs". I had a similar idea myself a while back but dropped it because I didn't think it would work. First of all, I have already chosen drivers : Paudio sn12B X 2 and the Bmd 450 X 2 with a wave formers on them. I chose these because of the higher effeciancies, and the light weight. Do you think they were a good choice, bearing in mind that they will be used outdoors. Next question, have you worked out Dims for a 12" unit, as this is what I am needing. Could you also maybe give some enlightenment on where I can get a desisgn for a DBL 18" Horn loaded bin-size doesnt really matter. Thanks for the great web site-very interesting... Regards Ben coastben@hotmail.com

Hello got here thru harmony central ford audio hcla project etc etc. I have a great interest in your slot loaded line array box. I have been working on a design myself and yours seems to answer most of the issues I have encountered. How about a little help? I still find myself perplexed with the mid&high section one design I saw had a moveable baffel in the horn lense to adjust the pattern it could even steer it left or right interesting huh? Could you email me some pdf diagrams of your dual 10 designs ? I cant seem to get a good look at the ones you have posted here. I am still at the head scratching stage in all of this so I am looking for experienced folks such as your self to offer some insight. I have what looks like great plans for some bass horns but this line array has me still puzzled about patten control vs freqency vs horn lense size vs coupling effect I figure if a 4 box pack is some where about 30 X 60" that would be a good basic unit. Anyway I would love some help with this Oh and great web site way way cool! Thanks for the enlightenment I have already recieved from your site and your posts. And any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Dave Beautiful Downtown Geraldine Alabama USA Pop 700 or so (if you count the cows and chickens and we always do!)

Hi, Steve and Lynn I have a problem trying to use the interference sheet. I can open the page, but then the window, which is supposed to show the interferences , says: Java.lang.classnot found exeption:ripple.class. Obviously I'm not so much of a computer expert, so I have no idea, what that means. Can you help me? thanx Kai

Hello Steve, I had emailed a long time ago when the HCLA project was active. It appears most have given up on the idea of a DIY line array. I went ahead and build a mid sized array using 12 Beta 10s (two per box) and a placed the shorter HF array in the center. Its a nightmare to rig so I am always looking for other ideas. I stumbled upon the PAS array. http://www.pas-toc.com/products/packages/linearray.html Looks like they simply rotated the old trap box and called it a line array. Perhaps we all were trying too hard. I recently reformated the PC and was bookmarking some of the old sites. Wanted to keep your's in there. Always good to refer to. I hope you are well. Take care, Dan

Our Sound system department are in the process of upgrading our system. Presently we have Dynacord XA 68 system, JBL and RCF speakers with Das Audio SA e-series, Makie Power accumulating to about 60 K of power. We have made our own speaker enclosures that replicates the XA series High mids and Long throw Lows with DAS AUDIO SA component Speakers: 18" low frequency tranducers 4 x 18G and 4 x 18s 12" Mid frequency Tranducers 4 x 12HM and 4 x 12B 1.5" high frequency Drivers 4 x ND 10 and 4 x M10 Due to lack of accuracy when building the Enclosures we could not get the the sound to function as an array stack. My question is: 1. May you assist us in getting the right approach to our enclosures that may function the component speakers to its max. 2. Do you know any loudspeaker kit that sells line array enclosures that are in dismantle form, that is to say we will do the assembly and finishing. 3. we are thinking of a array that consist of : 2 x 18" for the subs 2x 12" + 2 x 1.5" for the HiMid or 2 x 18" + 2x 12" + 2 x 1.5" for a full rage system 4. How much would it cost us for the assistence from your part and for the manufacturer that will do the parts. Steve, during last two days I spent an enormous time to read your pages here and your comments on DiY pages of Harmony. Several time I have seen your idea to put together some micro line array using 8". This is a project I am looking for several yeas. In the past of my live music enthusiasm, we had always the only sloution to use so called towers using 4 pieces of 8" ( 20 W each, around 100dbs in the box. two towers created 8 pieces of 8 element line soudns almost massive. The weak point was no bottoms and bad coupling of tweeters. They were easy to handle. Now I am planning to put 6 or 8 Beyma SM108 together ( in 2 boxes - 2x3(4) woofers. What I am still not able to decide is a HF section. I was planning to use 2 Beyma slot tweeters for each 8" woofer, but I am not very happy with the differences of impedances , as woofer is only 8 ohms and 2 tweeters 16 or 4 ohms. Sure an active crossover will be the right way. What is according me the worst, slot tweeters recommended crossover frequency is too high for coupling with 8". The other way is to use a.e. 18Sound HD125 1" drivers which are for reasonable price, the question case for me is horn. I have seen in your articles horns are the subject you are very familiar with. The pictures showing your designs made from plywood hit me. Pls, tell me , do you have some invetion how to do slot horn for 1 of 2 1" driver fitting 8" woofer ( Beyma SM108 or some of Beyma neo 8" stuff)? Many thanks for a feedback, R

Steve, Myself and some cycling friends just spent a few days in the peak district as a change from the hilly terrain of Norfolk. Having seen the cycling routes on your web site we managed to incorporate some of the climbs into our routes. We had a great time and will be back. Thanks for taking the time to put the information on your web site. Colin
